This role is for a Quality Assurance Scientist working in the Analytical Laboratory for the LA Plant. The role is for directly performing Chemistry laboratory testing, sampling of materials, organoleptic analysis, and disposition of raw materials, bulk compounds and finished products in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and Neutrogena’s standards for quality. This position is also responsible for generating laboratory GMP documentation used to maintain data integrity. When needed the individual takes timely and effective actions for out of specification results or non-conformances. 


  • Perform analytical chemical testing and organoleptic analysis of materials and products. 
  • Perform HPLC & GC and routine instrumentation analysis with minimum supervision 
  • Document and report results of analysis according to Good Laboratory Practices. 
  • Initiate Non-Conformance Reports when an Out of specification result is confirmed. 
  • Carry out timely OOS Investigations and Reporting. 
  • Provide routine maintenance and calibration of instruments and laboratory equipment. 
  • Analyze the physical appearance of materials and report anomalies to the lab supervisor or manager. 
  • Communicate with personnel in other departments as necessary. 


Minimum Education: 

  • Bachelor’s degree is required in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related discipline. 

Minimum Experience: 

  • Minimum 2 years working experience in a regulated QA lab environment is required. 
  • Broad-based experience or combination of experience, in Pharmaceutical Manufacturing, Quality Operations, Regulatory Compliance and/or Regulatory Affairs function is required. 
  • Knowledge of FDA Regulations, specifically 21 CFR 210 and 211 is required. 
  • Experience with current Good Manufacturing Practices and Good Laboratory Practices regulations is required. 
  • This candidate must drive process and technical improvements. The ability to drive change and innovation within functional area is required.
