This role is primarily responsible to lead the implementation of New Technology, Automation, Engineering, or Capital projects for liquid process and filling operations within an FDA/cGMP compliant environment. The objective of projects will to improve manufacturing efficiency, reliability, compliance and/or capacity. Projects will be related to facilities or equipment used in the Los Angeles Plant (LAP) Manufacturing site, including compounding, filling/packing area, facilities, and warehouses. A portion of these projects will towards electrical and controls upgrades but not limited to. 


To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each Major duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. 

Leads on equipment selection or solution, design, integration, capital justification, project management, specifications, drawings, installation, commissioning, qualification, calibration, and maintenance turnover. 

  1. Ensure projects meet and comply with LAP’s policies, procedures, quality, EHS/FDA regulatory, and industry standards 
  2. Lead and develop all aspects of engineering capital projects and requests 
  3. Implement manufacturing equipment capital projects in the categories of compliance, capacity increase, process improvement, and cost improvement 
  4. Lead or prepare user requirements, functional requirements, and design specifications 
  5. Lead or perform testing of specifications of equipment and/or components 
  6. Prepare and manage request for quotations. 
  7. Manage change control for equipment changes and lead project deliverables 
  8. Lead projects with cross functional alignment with core team members and stakeholders 
  9. Manage project cost, timeline, scope, and communication with project team including vendors 
  10. Site Sponsor for any vendors related to project work 


  1. Follow finance & procurement procedures for cost tracking, adherence to budgets, soliciting of bids, purchasing, and contracts 
  2. Provide functional team support and manufacturing troubleshooting support as required 
  3. Collect data/information, cultivates resources, conducts assessments as required for projects 


Minimum Education: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechatronic Engineering, Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical or any equivalent engineering degree) 

Minimum Experience: 

  • Minimum 5 years work experience in Engineering or Capital Project implementation or related field. 
  • Experience in highly regulated FDA/GMP environment is desirable. Experience with Electrical Design or Controls is a plus. 
  1. Capital project justification, execution, and multiple project management (required) 
  2. Specifications and contract writing, bidding, purchasing, factory acceptance, commissioning (required) 
  3. Supervision of contractors during the to the implementation of projects (desired) 
  4. Successful development/installation of mixers/ kettles and filling/packaging machinery (desired) 
  5. Installation of process and/or mechanical piping/systems in compounding or process industry (desired).
