JOB OVERVIEW 

PURPOSE:

Support product development and product sustenance.  Assemble, modify, repair and test electro-mechanical devices, following established procedures.  Conduct general engineering-lab maintenances.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

High school graduate required.  Technical vocational school training preferred.

Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in electrical/mechanical engineering field:

  • Assembly, troubleshooting and testing of electro-mechanical components and systems
  • Assembly of prototypes from electrical / mechanical layouts with minimal information
  • Use of measuring instruments like calipers, micrometers, dial indicators and test  instruments like oscilloscopes, voltmeters.
  • Manufacturing of harnesses (crimp, solder).
  • Circuit Board re-work

Able to comprehend engineering design drawings, schematics, assembly drawings, diagrams and technical manuals.

Must have experience with product development, system integration.

Good problem solving skills.

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Works from design drawings, diagrams, sketches, blue prints, oral and written instructions.

Assembles prototypes (including, but not limited to cable assembly, PCB assembly, electro-mechanical assembly).

Diagnoses malfunctions, documents and implements the necessary corrections and modifications.

Integrates systems and sub-systems.  Adjusts, aligns, calibrates and modifies systems.

Generates and follows test procedures to conduct tests.

Records test data; prepares reports, charts, graphs.

Generates test procedures and technical reports.

Maintains laboratory and ensures continuous organization of laboratory workspace.

Maintains laboratory equipment.
