JOB OVERVIEW 

GENERAL SUMMARY:  The Associate Manager is responsible for ensuring the Janssen Labs facility maintains strict regulatory compliance while projecting a professional atmosphere and providing outstanding Licensee support.  The Associate Manager coordinates with the Janssen RD maintenance team to ensure timely repair and maintenance services to Janssen Labs facility and equipment while representing the facility with vendors and contractors.

The Associate Manager is responsible for maintaining the facility training and environmental health & safety program while ensuring that Janssen Labs is in full compliance with all federal, state and local regulations regarding safety, health and hazardous materials and waste handling (OSHA, EPA, HMBP, hazard communication and evacuation).

This position is also responsible for equipment management, tele-data support, client services and communications, and meeting operational budget goals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Manage Operations and Health and Safety Program 

  • Serve as Primary Safety Officer
  • Organize, lead and run the safety committee
  • Schedule and facilitate site Safety training programs and audits
  • Facilitate Licensee on-boarding (permits, signage, user codes, services, orientation and training) and off-boarding (decontamination and repairs)
  • Liaison with Janssen RD and EH&S staff 
  • Facilitate Corrective Acton and Preventative Action (CAPA) plan following incidents
  • Create documents and document control practices
  • Implementation of Standard Operating Procedures:
  1. Exposure Control Plan 
  2. Hazardous Communication
  3. Hazardous Management Waste Plan 
  4. Safety
  5. Equipment Usage

Oversee Daily Facility Operations

  • Support facility regulatory and  compliance needs
  • Develops inspection reports, reports metrics and manages process improvements 
  • Liaison with company's RD site representatives and reporting requirements

REQUIREMENTS:

  • B.S. or equivalent with 5+ years of experience in the life science industry, supporting laboratory operations, EH&S compliance and customer support services. 
  • Strong project management skills are required, with a proven ability to plan, schedule and follow through on time and under budget. 
  • Must be able to work with internal customers to plan for future growth. 
  • Must have the ability to work with inside and outside vendors and top management. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
