JOB OVERVIEW 

Experience/Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Minimum three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  
  • One year of previous manufacturing Facilitator/Supervisor experience preferred. 
  • Must have knowledge of key regulations and standards such as: QSR, Medical Device Directives, Canadian Medical Device Regulations, ISO13485 and 21CFR820. JDE, EXCEL, other computer skills as required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS 

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal relation skills; with ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS 

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, geometry, statistical and analytical problem solving.

REASONING ABILITY 

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. 
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS 

  • APICS, Green Belt or similar “lean” manufacturing certification preferred.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

 

  • Provide the first level of supervision in a manufacturing unit. Supervises in accordance with established policies and methods to meet production commitments. Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems.
  • Assigns duties and actively assists, or provides direction to subordinates as required.
  • Monitors work operations and employee performance.
  • Maintains time, attendance and production records.
  • Prepares operational schedules and coordinates manufacturing activities and resources to insure production schedule.
  • Attainment, linearity and product quality meet defined requirements.
  • Works under general supervision, with responsibility to make decisions to meet operational objectives.
  • Responsible for compliance with all regulatory, corporate, and local policies. 
  • Accountable for the safety of shift members.
  • Establish corrective action and continuous improvement activities to effectuate process and operational improvement.
  • Recommends measures to improve production methods, process efficiencies, equipment performance, and overall quality of product.
  • Optimize changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency overall manufacturing efficiencies.
  • Confers with other facilitators, supervisors, leads and support groups to coordinate/synchronize activities and priorities of individual departments.
  • Participates/supports cross functional efforts directed at improving product quality, process efficiencies and operational costs.
  • Directs Material Handlers in the accurate fulfillment of duties. Ensure inventory control consistent with organizational policies and procedures.
  • Lead Rapid Response Teams as required
  • Understands and adheres to J&J environmental and safety policies/guidelines, J&J Pollution Prevention Goals and regulatory requirements.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Directly supervise employees within 1 or more Production Departments, and CME (Control Manufacturing Environment).  
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. 
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing quality issues, audits observations, complaints and resolving problems.
