JOB OVERVIEW 

The Associate Scientist 2 / Senior Associate Scientist is a member of a research group aiming to discover and develop new therapies for autoimmune diseases. This Associate Scientist 2 / Senior Associate Scientist will be expected to work with minimal supervision to design and perform experiments, document results for regulatory submissions, and present data internally and externally. Primary technical responsibilities include culturing primary immune cells including T cells, B cells, and dendritic cells from human and mouse tissues; in vitro cell-based assays; and immune phenotyping using Flow Cytometry, Microscopy, Luminex, RNA isolation and RT-PCR. 

Qualifications 

A minimum of a Bachelor's degree with 5 years of relevant industry experience working in a research lab or a Master's degree with 4 years of relevant industry experience working in a research lab or a Ph.D. with 1 year of industry experience working in a research lab is required. A background in research in autoimmune diseases e.g. inflammatory bowel diseases or rheumatoid arthritis is preferred. 

Candidate should be comfortable working independently as well as part of a team, and should possess excellent communication skills. 

Relevant research experience in cellular immunology would include primary cell assays evaluating activation and function of immune cells. Examples would include antigen-specific T cell activation assays, activation of innate cells, functional and phenotypic analysis of cells from diseased tissue from pre-clinical models and/or patient samples, etc. 

Experience in developing, performing and trouble-shooting cell-based assays for compound screening and/or mechanistic studies is required. Experience with immune phenotyping using Flow Cytometry is required. Experience with Microscopy, Luminex, RNA isolation and RT-PCR is an added plus.
