JOB OVERVIEW 

The Sourcing Manager is responsible for working with business partners and associated teams in order to create and negotiate CLINICAL and NON-CLINICAL agreements on behalf of our client. 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  1. The Sourcing Manager is responsible for working with the business partners and associated teams in order to create and negotiate (as assigned by their manager) agreements including but not limited to consulting agreements, confidentiality agreements, commercial and academic institution agreements, service agreements and associated financial documents in accordance with the appropriate business operating procedures. 
  2. Lead/conduct contract negotiations on terms and conditions of high-risk, complex, and potentially long-term agreements, and escalate specific points of contention on legal issues to appropriate legal staff. Advise business partners on contractual terms and conditions in order to reach acceptable language. 
  3. Drive the contracting process from initial request through completion into contract-tracking database; includes managing change order process as necessary. 
  4. Establish, maintain, and train on processes for approvals and other internal audit and Health Care Compliance requirements. 
  5. Must be able to develop interdependent partnerships with other sourcing and procurement groups, including but not limited to Finance. 
  6. Must demonstrate professional demeanor and have ability to converse with executive level management. 
  7. May assist in developing sourcing and other business strategic initiatives and general process improvement initiatives. 
  8. Demonstrate value contribution through negotiated savings, competitive bidding, cycle times, etc.

  • Able to work independently as well as in a team environment 
  • Ability to identify solutions that resolve deviations to policies and associated activities. 
  • Ability to participate in decision making exercises in a highly matrixed, team oriented environment. 
  • Ability to manage & prioritize high volume of work in complex cross pharma environment 

WORKING RELATIONSHIP/INTERFACES: 

Works on a daily basis with business partners to structure and negotiate agreements with third parties. Also works with legal, health care compliance, finance, and other support organizations in order to accomplish this task. Collaborate closely with Contract Analysts. The position will be actively engaged in activities that range from highly complex to moderately complex involving multi-disciplinary teams and potentially multiple affiliates. The position will interact with but not be limited to business partners, finance, legal, and Health Care Compliance. 

EDUCATION & WORK EXPERIENCE: 

  • BA/BS, financial or drug development background preferred. Advance/ additional degrees a plus. 
  • 3-5 years of sourcing or related business experience in the pharmaceutical industry; drug development and procurement experience a plus; (experience to be specifically appropriate – i.e., early research or discovery (preclinical) experience) 
  • •Experience with negotiating Intellectual Property language for research agreements a plus. 
  • Demonstrated negotiation experience, 3-5 years minimum
